This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Security Engineer based in United Kingdom.
We are looking for a senior Platform Security Engineer to strengthen cloud security, platform reliability, and secure engineering practices in a fully remote European environment.
In this individual contributor role, you will join a platform engineering team focused on building reliable infrastructure and improving the developer experience.
You will design and implement secure-by-default workflows that protect sensitive personal and compensation data across multiple countries.
Your work will span cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD security, identity management, observability, and disaster recovery.
You will collaborate closely with engineers to embed security into everyday workflows without compromising delivery speed or usability.
By combining hands-on engineering, automation, and pragmatic risk management, you will help build a resilient platform where security becomes the easiest path.
This is an opportunity to shape platform security strategy while delivering measurable improvements in a collaborative, remote-first team.
Accountabilities:
As a Platform Security Engineer, you will take ownership of production security improvements while contributing to the broader platform engineering roadmap. You will focus on practical solutions that improve security, reliability, and developer productivity.
-
Design and implement secure-by-default workflows for production operations, ensuring access is controlled, auditable, and straightforward for engineers to use.
-
Strengthen cloud security practices, including identity and access management, SSO/OIDC, secrets management, and least-privilege access controls.
-
Secure and operate production Kubernetes environments, implementing appropriate workload security and access restrictions.
-
Integrate security checks and automated scanning into CI/CD pipelines to identify and resolve vulnerabilities early in the delivery process.
-
Improve infrastructure-as-code practices, developer tooling, and self-service guardrails to make secure engineering workflows easy to adopt.
-
Manage cloud networking and edge protection, including VPC boundaries, DNS, TLS, load balancing, CDN, and Web Application Firewall (WAF) configuration.
-
Define and improve security priorities, response targets, incident workflows, threat modeling, and post-incident reviews.
-
Strengthen platform reliability through service-level objectives (SLOs), observability, on-call practices, and incident troubleshooting.
-
Design, implement, and regularly test backup, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures to support business continuity.
-
Lead resilience exercises and refine recovery playbooks to ensure recovery objectives are clear and achievable.
-
Use AI-powered engineering tools and automation, including agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, to accelerate engineering work and improve platform operations.
-
Collaborate with platform engineers and engineering leadership to balance risk, delivery speed, developer experience, and operational stability.
-
Document technical decisions, communicate trade-offs clearly, and use feedback and adoption metrics to continuously improve platform security.
-
Demonstrated ownership of application or platform security in a production cloud environment, with clear examples of impact.
-
Strong cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, SSO/OIDC, secrets management, identity integrations, and least-privilege access.
-
Solid platform engineering experience across infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, security automation, and observability.
-
Proven experience operating Kubernetes in production, including workload security and access controls.
-
Practical knowledge of cloud networking and edge technologies, including VPCs, DNS, TLS, load balancing, CDNs, and WAFs.
-
Experience with reliability engineering practices such as SLOs, on-call operations, threat modeling, incident coordination, and postmortems.
-
Hands-on experience designing and testing backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
-
A product-oriented approach to platform engineering, with attention to developer experience, adoption, usability, and measurable outcomes.
-
Ability to write and review code to diagnose and resolve problems directly rather than simply identify or report them.
-
Experience using AI tools to accelerate engineering tasks and integrate AI-assisted capabilities into platform workflows.
-
Fluent English, with the ability to communicate technical decisions, document trade-offs, and collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment.
-
Experience with ISO 27001, SOC 2, or DORA compliance requirements.
-
Background in fintech, payroll, or other environments handling regulated or sensitive data.
-
Knowledge of detection engineering, security information and event management (SIEM), or related security monitoring practices.
-
Experience with PostgreSQL operations and safe database schema migrations.
-
Familiarity with Elixir or the ability to learn and work with functional programming languages.
-
Awareness of cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
-
Relevant certifications, although practical experience and demonstrated outcomes are prioritized.
-
Competitive compensation: Annual gross base salary of €50,000–€67,000, depending on experience and location.
-
Equity participation: Stock options through an equity incentive plan, with no bonus or commission component.
-
Fully remote work: Remote-first working arrangements across Europe, with interviews generally scheduled between 10:00 and 16:00 CET.
-
Workstation and onboarding: A MacBook and a €500 onboarding budget to support your setup during your first months.
-
Professional development: A €1,000 annual FlexBudget for professional development and remote-work enablement.
-
Health insurance: Health insurance plans, with options to add family members and adjust coverage depending on the country.
-
Paid time off: 25 days of paid vacation annually, plus three additional caring days for side projects supporting positive social causes.
-
Family-friendly policies: Two additional paid weeks on top of the legal maximum parental leave, plus your birthday and your children's birthdays off.
-
Team connection: In-person team gatherings at least once a year.
-
Inclusive culture: A workplace that values diversity, individuality, non-linear career paths, and evidence-based assessment.
-
Permanent employment: A permanent contract and the opportunity to influence platform security, infrastructure, and developer experience.
Requirements:
You should be a hands-on platform engineer with strong production security expertise and the ability to turn security requirements into practical, measurable improvements. Evidence of what you have built, improved, and influenced is more important than a specific number of years of experience.

With deep industry expertise, and enabled by advanced technology, the firm helps clients to deliver with greater confidence and certainty. With over 2,000 people across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, the firm combines global insight with local understanding.
The firm works across energy and resources, financial services, government and public sector, consumer products and retail, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, manufacturing, and technology, media and telecoms, with capabilities spanning strategy, transformation and operational excellence – all powered by advanced technology, data, AI and digital innovation.
Clients value Baringa’s collaborative approach and the way its teams integrate seamlessly – all working with a shared understanding of what matters most. The firm is known for its kind, curious experts who listen closely and care deeply about client success as they help clients transform energy markets, modernise financial platforms, expand telecoms and digital networks through advanced data analytics, enable digital services in government, and unlock growth in consumer sectors.
Certified as a Great Place to Work around the world, Baringa has been recognised by the Financial Times in 22 categories of its UK Leading Management Consultants rankings, and by Forbes for four consecutive years as one of the World’s Best Management Consulting Firms.
Our Transition, Assets and Infrastructure practice are looking for an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to join the team.
Our Asset & Operations Excellence teams help energy, utilities and industrial clients get more from their physical assets – improving safety, reliability, availability and whole-life cost across the asset lifecycle. We combine deep asset management and engineering expertise with modern enterprise asset management technology and data to help clients move from reactive maintenance to intelligent, insight-led asset management. From shaping maintenance and reliability strategy to implementing platforms such as IBM Maximo and connecting operational technology (OT) with core information technology (IT), we help asset-intensive organisations run their networks and plant more safely, sustainably and cost-effectively.
What you will be doing
- You'll lead the design and delivery of asset management and operational transformations and improvement programs for asset-intensive clients across energy, utilities and major infrastructure companies – including current-state assessment and target operating model design through to implementation and adoption.
- You will help clients shift to risk/condition based and predictive maintenance strategies driving improvements in asset performance across the whole asset lifecycle.
- You'll lead providing advisory services related to and optimisation of EAM / CMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo – shaping user requirements, configuration, data migration and integrations with ERP, SCADA, condition monitoring platforms.
- You'll bring IT and OT together – defining how asset systems, data and cyber-security governance operate end-to-end, and establishing change control, data ownership (RACI) and support models that keep critical systems reliable and secure.
- You will help clients plan and shape the overall digital, technology, AI landscape for asset optimisation
- You'll manage day-to-day client relationships and, at Manager / Senior Manager level, hold commercial and delivery accountability for engagements – owning scope, risk, quality and margin.
- You'll build and coach high-performing teams, developing junior colleagues and creating an inclusive, People First environment.
- You'll help grow our rapidly expanding asset management and operations practice – shaping propositions, contributing to proposals and building trusted, lasting client relationships.
Your skills and experience
- You've built your career in asset management or asset-intensive operations – in energy, utilities, oil and gas, manufacturing or a comparable sector – with a strong grounding in asset lifecycle management and maintenance and reliability principles.
- You've hands-on experience of Enterprise Asset Management and CMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo, (which may include implementation, configuration or product ownership)
- You understand how asset management systems connect to the wider technology landscape – ERP, SCADA, condition-based monitoring, data historians and asset / master data – and you can bridge IT and OT to make that ecosystem work.
- You've a strong appreciation of OT/IT integration and change governance – management of change, change control boards, data governance and RACI, and tiered (L1–L3) support models for critical asset systems.
- You've delivered change in a consulting, transformation or major-programme environment, comfortable owning workstreams, managing senior stakeholders and turning analysis into practical outcomes that stick.
- You've excellent analytical, communication and facilitation skills, and you're confident leading workshops and engaging senior client stakeholders.
- You will have an understanding on how emergent technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving in the asset management and operations arena. It would be desirable but not essential if you have experience in helping companies define and adopt AI solutions
- You will have, for a Manager / Senior Manager, a track record of leading workstreams or wider engagements end-to-end, potentially including commercials and growing client relationships and teams; recognised asset management credentials (for example IAM certification or familiarity with ISO 55000) are welcome.

Our Technology and Cyber team are looking for an experienced Database and Analytics Engineer to join the team.
Baringa has grown so fast, and it continues to grow rapidly. Those new joiners keep on coming! We are a global function supporting the firm as it enters new markets. We are re-architecting and evolving our cloud-based business systems and infrastructure. We are on a mission to develop great technology products, deliver great services, and protect the trust our people and clients place in us. We have installed a new operating system for ourselves, and rebooted what was a corporate IT department into a corporate technology company, transforming the way we work.
Now we are building for the next era of work. AI is becoming part of the fabric of how Baringa operates, and we are developing the products and platforms that will help colleagues find knowledge, act on insight, navigate complexity, and get work done with greater speed, quality, and confidence. Some of this will be visible through intelligent experiences and agentic systems. Some of it will sit beneath the surface: data products, workflow platforms, integrations, automations, cyber security, governance, and the architecture that makes all of it safe, scalable, resilient, and useful.
So much to build on, so much to progress. So much to deliver. So much to play for!
Do you know what though? We are going to do it. All of it and more. We have the support to drive change. We have the belief. We are going to do great things. Come and join us!

- Partner with Product Owners, Engineers and business stakeholders to modernise legacy solutions, reducing technical debt and enabling more scalable, supportable and cloud-ready platforms.
- Design and deliver meaningful reporting, analytics and data products that improve decision making and unlock insight across the firm.
- Build and support business-critical applications, integrating data, automation and user experiences into solutions that solve real business problems.
- Act as a technical authority for database and analytics engineering, establishing best practice, mentoring colleagues and raising engineering standards across our Technology & Cyber function.
- Whilst this is an engineering role, we are a multi-skilled team. Providing proof of concepts, solving complex technical challenges and rolling up your sleeves to deliver great outcomes will be a core part of the role.
Your skills and experience
