Accountabilities

Requirements

We're looking for a staff+ engineer, backend-leaning but comfortable full-stack, to join one of Plasma's engineering teams and take ownership of that team's hardest technical problems. Our stack is TypeScript across the board - Node.js on the backend and React + React Native for the frontend
You are expected to set technical direction for your team's most critical systems, while partnering with product and, where relevant, other teams at the points where your systems connect.
The Work
Own the hardest technical problems inside your team end to end - the ones that need deep judgment, not just execution.
Set technical direction for your team's core systems: architecture, data models, and standards that hold up as the team scales.
Design for reliability first: idempotency, consistency, and graceful failure recovery in systems that move or store real money, or that the network depends on.
Go deep on the backend, but stay full-stack, own the TypeScript service and the data model, and work through the client or API layer when the problem calls for it.
Define how your team's systems handle the hard edge cases: partial failures, retries, timeouts, reversals, reconciliation gaps - whatever “correct under pressure” means for your team.
Contribute, architect and improve the frontend systems and integrations wherever necessary
Raise the technical bar within your team: code standards, testing strategy, monitoring, incident response, and how the team approaches ambiguous problems.
Mentor other engineers and drive technical clarity on the hardest parts of your team's system.
The Bar
A staff-level, hands-on engineer with a track record of owning production systems end to end, not just contributing to them.
Backend-leaning but full-stack: deep expertise building backend services in TypeScript (Node.js), with enough range to work through the client layer when needed.
Strong instincts around reliability and correctness - you think in systems: state machines, data integrity, observability, operational risk.
Comfortable taking systems from zero to one, and then scaling them without losing clarity.
Strong judgment on tradeoffs: speed vs. safety, abstraction vs. control, simplicity vs. flexibility.
You communicate clearly, write clean code, and can lead through technical decisions without needing to manage people.
You have very high agency and don’t wait to be told a problem to work on and proactively find new problems to solve
You make decisions based on data and use data to ground whether solutions work
Nice to have
Fintech, banking, or crypto-native background.
Familiarity with stablecoins, custody, settlement, and blockchain transaction lifecycles.

About The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, growth-minded Business Analyst to join our Sales Engineering Operations team within the Identity & Access Management (IAM) sector of cybersecurity. Our team is process-driven but agile in execution. We don't work in rigid waterfall methods and long sign-off cycles; instead, we operate like a rapid prototyping squad. We engage early during New Product Introductions (NPIs) and changing GTM motions, building and iterating on functional prototypes in parallel with evolving requirements to quickly deliver production-grade software demos for late-stage sales conversations, live demos, and Proof of Concepts (POCs).
This role is heavily weighted toward Business Analysis, with a critical focus on technical validation. You will take early-stage sales stories, sales plays, and GTM requirements from stakeholders, synthesize them into developer-ready user stories, and personally act as the "last-mile" validator to ensure the final prototype successfully hits the mark.
Note on Career Path: This role is a dedicated career path as a Business Analyst in Cyber Security and Identity & Access Management (IAM). It is not a software engineering or developer-track position.
You Will
- Translate Sales Logic into Developer Stories: Partner with sales engineering stakeholders, product teams, and GTM teams to capture loose, early-stage feature ideas. You will translate these sales stories and plays into clear, functional user stories and workflows in Jira.
- Drive Iterative Prototyping Loops: Rather than relying on traditional, slow Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), you will use strong storytelling and visual mapping skills to help the team rapidly iterate on mockups and prototypes to drive visuals and context, successfully bypassing "design by committee" bottlenecks. We focus on working software over comprehensive documentation.
- Responsible AI Utilization: Proactively and responsibly utilize company-approved AI tools to maximize your day-to-day delivery speed, accelerate your documentation workflows, and generate user flows rapidly.
- Execute Last-Mile Human Validation: Because the person who designs the requirements best understands the success criteria, you will handle the manual testing of complex IAM features that code pipelines cannot automate. This includes real-world, out-of-band verification events like mobile push notifications and biometric/selfie identity verifications.
- Maintain Demo Readiness: Coordinate immediate feedback loops between developers and sales stakeholders to ensure pre-v1.0 prototypes are highly functional and polished enough for live sales demonstrations.
- Maintain awareness of current sales and sales engineering processes: Aligning approaches and business outcomes, advocating improvements where necessary.
You Have
- 2–5 Years of Experience: Foundational experience in a business analysis, tech support, or systems analysis environment. You should be comfortable working independently without requiring constant day-to-day mentoring.
- Strong Technical Storytelling: An ability to take loose, early-stage business inputs (sales plays, product, and marketing info) and structure them into clear, logical data flows or step-by-step user journeys for developers.
- Device-Savvy Problem Solving: A natural curiosity for testing how applications behave across multiple platforms, physical mobile devices, and browsers.
- No Coding Required: Programming skills are not required for this role. Instead, practical GenAI experience is.
