POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Data Engineering, is a critical and trusted leadership role, responsible for leading and forming the enterprise’ data platforms that support BAYADA’s mission and long-term goals. This role is responsible for formulating and implementing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall business objectives, enabling reliable, secure, and scalable data foundations for analytics, decision-making, and AI across the enterprise. The Director, Data Engineering, is responsible for ensuring data initiatives support and enhance the overall business strategy, fostering growth and competitive advantage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exemplifies characteristics of The BAYADA Way: compassion, excellence and reliability.
- Four (4) year college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field. Advanced Degree preferred.
- Twenty (20) years of progressive experience leading and transforming data engineering and analytics teams in a growth-oriented environment.
- Five (5) years specifically focused on enterprise data platforms, Lakehouse and cloud-native data architectures, and large-scale data engineering programs (individuals who has managed and built teams of 30+ people).
- Demonstrated experience in implementing automation in engineering workflows. On the cutting edge of AI based engineering capabilities
- Demonstrated automations in multi cloud architecture environments
- Relevant certifications preferred, not required (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS), Databricks, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Project Management Professional (PMP)).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborate with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, application engineering, and analytics teams to build integrated, secure, and future-ready data platforms.
- Partner with product management and business stakeholders to ensure the on-time delivery of data roadmaps, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare industry regulations — including HIPAA, HITECH, and NIST — and maintain strong security and PHI-handling frameworks across the data lifecycle.
- Foster and sustain a culture of innovation, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous learning across the data engineering function.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on data investments, risk mitigation, and innovation opportunities, aligning initiatives with BAYADA’s mission and business priorities.
- Identify, evaluate, and guide the adoption of emerging data technologies that elevate BAYADA’s mission and advance care excellence.
- Streamline data engineering operations to enhance productivity and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to mitigate data and platform risks and ensure the security, compliance, and resilience of BAYADA’s data assets.
- Lead organizational change management related to data platform adoption, ensuring smooth transitions and widespread user acceptance.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for data initiatives.
- Establish, monitor, and report on service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to uphold the highest standards of data quality, reliability, and service delivery.
- Cultivate, lead, and develop a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative data engineering team that embodies BAYADA’s values and strives for excellence.

YLD is a software engineering and product design consultancy, founded in 2013, headquartered in London, with delivery teams in Lisbon and Porto.
We work with engineering and product leaders who know what good looks like and are frustrated by the gap between strategy and execution. We embed senior engineers and designers inside client teams, working in their codebase, their tooling, their delivery rhythm. AI runs through how our teams work, and we help clients adopt it into their own workflows too.
About the role:
We're building out data as a first-class practice at YLD, and we need someone in London who can be the credible technical voice in front of clients and prospects, not just describing what we could do, but backing it with real delivery experience.
This is a senior role, reporting to our Head of Engineering. You'll sit alongside our commercial and client services leadership in meetings where technical credibility matters, help shape and win new engagements, and stay close enough to client work to guide it and step in yourself when an engagement needs you. Alongside, we expect you to build our external reputation in data through events, writing, and the wider community.
About you:
You've been a strong data engineer or data lead for years, and you're comfortable in front of a client as well as in a pull request. You know what good data work looks like well enough to spot it, or its absence, in the first ten minutes of a client conversation. You've probably led a team before. Consultancy background is a strong plus, but not essential if you've got real client or stakeholder exposure elsewhere.
You don't need an existing public profile in the data community, but you'll need the appetite to build one and the technical depth to make it credible when you do.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this:
Hands-on delivery (core, from day one)
- Doing hands-on data engineering work directly, pipelines, transformation layers, models, and the infrastructure around them, not just guiding others
- Adapting to different client contexts: legacy warehouse migrations, greenfield lakehouses, transformation layers that need rescuing
- Guiding the wider team and unblocking hard technical problems as your remit grows beyond your own delivery
- Defining and evolving our internal standards for data work: testing, documentation, project structure, code review
- Mentoring and growing data engineers across the company
Client and commercial (core, from day one)
- Joining client and prospect meetings as the technical authority on data, alongside our client services and commercial leads
- Shaping proposals and pitches, translating client problems into a credible data approach and a defensible scope
- Acting as the escalation point on live data engagements when technical judgement calls need weight behind them
- Travelling to client sites for workshops, discovery sessions, and in-person relationship building, and representing YLD at external data events
Practice, talent, and external profile (growth, over the first year)
- Owning the growth of YLD's data practice: capability, reputation, and headcount over time
- Contributing to attracting and hiring strong data engineers into YLD

You'll have the following skills and experience:
Leadership and commercial
- Consulting or agency experience is a strong plus, but real client or stakeholder-facing exposure elsewhere is acceptable
- A track record of technical leadership: leading a team or function
- Comfortable presenting to senior client stakeholders and holding your own under commercial pressure
- Cross-functional fluency: you translate engineering constraints into business terms and negotiate realistic commitments
- Appetite to build a public presence in the data community over time, even if you don't have one yet
Technical
Not theoretical, evidenced by things you've actually shipped, and deep enough to set the bar for a team and answer a sceptical client:
- SQL as engineering: read and review SQL that performs at scale, and understand query planning, engine quirks, and how materialisation choices affect cost and performance well enough to guide a team's decisions
- Python for data: built and maintained production data systems in typed, testable Python, not just notebooks, and can set that standard for others
- Data modelling: made deliberate choices between dimensional, Data Vault, normalised and denormalised designs, and can explain the trade-offs in flexibility, query performance, and maintainability to both engineers and clients
- Transformation architecture: design transformations that are idempotent, incremental, and dependency-aware. You think in DAGs, not scripts
- Pipeline design: weigh batch, streaming, and micro-batch trade-offs against latency, complexity, cost, and reprocessability, and pick the right approach for the problem
- Data testing: know what to catch at build time (schema contracts, assertions, transformation logic) versus defer to observability, and can make that call for a team
- Data observability: treat data reliability like site reliability, with measurable indicators, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis
- CI/CD for data: version, test, and deploy pipelines like software, with environment promotion, rollback strategies, and infrastructure as code
- Data governance: implemented lineage, cataloguing, sensitive data classification, or access control, and can hold a client to account on making data auditable and secure
- Cost-conscious: optimised warehouse spend, storage strategies, or job efficiency, and treat compute as a resource to manage, not ignore
- Platform fluency: worked across orchestration (Airflow, Dagster), warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks), ingestion (Fivetran, Airbyte, custom), and transformation (dbt, Spark)
- AI Native: experienced in agentic coding workflows (context, harness, loop, and graph engineering), and able to embed AI Engineering constructs into pipelines (RAG, semantic search, evals, guardrails, etc)
You should apply if:
- Confident and credible in front of clients and prospects, without needing a script, and comfortable holding a firm technical or commercial line when a client or prospect pushes back
- Still able to hold up in a deep technical review today, architecture, data modelling, pipeline design, not just talk about decisions you made a few years ago
- Self-motivated, and want to own building a practice, not just execute a workstream someone else has defined, and comfortable without a fully defined remit from day one
- Able to work well with commercial and client services colleagues who aren't technical themselves, translating for them without talking down
- Genuinely energised by variety: different clients, different stacks, different problems, rather than depth in one domain
- Happy travelling regularly, client sites, workshops, industry events, wherever the work and the relationship-building actually happens

This is a technical builder role. The ideal candidate is strong in data engineering and analytics engineering, comfortable working with enterprise and security system data, and able to explain data lineage, source-system behavior, and control logic clearly to technical and audit stakeholders.
You’ll be responsible for
Building reliable data pipelines, models, and datasets for IT controls, including access, identity, configuration, change, ticketing, exception, and evidence data.
Creating data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and completeness checks that make control data defensible for SOX and other audit use cases.
Designing automated evidence generation workflows that produce complete, accurate, and repeatable audit populations, exports, dashboards, and control artifacts.
Developing control monitoring logic to detect drift, missing evidence, stale access, direct system changes, overdue activity, and other control exceptions.
Partnering with Security, IT, Infrastructure, Engineering, Risk Management, and system owners to understand source systems, validate data, and improve automation reliability.
Translating technical system behavior, data flows, access models, and validation results into clear explanations for auditors, control owners, and technical stakeholders.
We’re looking for someone with
Strong data engineering, analytics engineering, or software/data systems experience, including building reliable datasets, pipelines, queries, dashboards, or automated reporting workflows.
Hands-on SQL experience and proficiency with at least one scripting or programming language such as Python.
Experience working with enterprise system data, such as identity platforms, HR systems, ticketing systems, cloud environments, source control systems, SaaS applications, or audit/compliance tooling.
Strong understanding of data modeling, lineage, completeness, accuracy, reconciliation, validation, observability, and repeatability.
Ability to reason through messy source-system data, inconsistent identifiers, nested groups, stale records, missing owners, direct assignments, and downstream application drift.
Experience supporting security, IT controls, SOX, audit readiness, risk, compliance, or regulated technology environments.
Ability to explain technical systems, data flows, and control logic clearly to both engineering and audit stakeholders.
Strong ownership, judgment, and attention to detail in high-stakes, time-sensitive environments.

About the Role
We are looking for a product-focused Senior Software Engineer to join our Experiences Engineering team. This is a full-stack role, leveraging Java, SQL, React, AWS and AI tools. We are hiring a AI Platform Engineer to build the execution layer for Supabase's internal AI systems.
Supabase is building an AI-native internal operating system: a common way of working across the company where AI carries a meaningful share of the operational load rather than sitting alongside it as an assistant. We are standing up a new central team to build those systems, enable the teams, and embed AI operations throughout the organization. You are the engineer on that team.
The execution layer is yours. You will build the platform that actually runs agents: an event-triggered queue, a headless model-agnostic runtime, durable state so work survives a restart, a human review gate, atomic rollback, and full logging of every prompt, tool call and decision so any run can be reconstructed. You will build the evaluation layer that makes any of it trustworthy, because an agent that cannot be measured cannot be trusted with anything beyond reading. And you will build the agents themselves, across everything from executive reporting down to a layer of agents that watch the platform and improve it.
This is a governance-heavy environment by design, and that is the interesting part of the problem. Agents are risk-tiered from read-only internal data through to external-facing output, with review depth, evaluation requirements and human approval scaling by tier. Some capabilities are permanently off limits: an agent may read and report, it may carry a human-authored update into a system of record once a human consents, and it may initiate contact within a strict budget, but it may never autonomously write a commitment (an owner, a due date, a status) into a shared work system. Your job is to make that structurally impossible rather than merely forbidden.
You will be the only engineer on this platform. You will close open architecture decisions yourself, own the infrastructure end to end, and instrument the system so it reports its own return.
What You'll Be Responsible For
In this role, you'll:
Ship the agent platform to production. An event-triggered queue, a headless model-agnostic runtime (choosing the runtime is an open decision you will close), durable state that survives a failed run, a human review gate, atomic rollback, and complete run logging in the warehouse.
Own the evaluation layer, and switch on the gate that depends on it. Golden suites with behavioral assertions rather than intuition, judge criteria with a written rubric, safety cases that must pass on every run, and a CI gate that blocks a regression from merging. This is the precondition for every agent that does anything beyond read internal data.
Build and register the agent portfolio. Reporting, drafting, linting, triage and question-answering agents across the executive, team-lead and individual-contributor layers, plus a meta layer that observes the platform and improves it.
Enforce governance in code. Risk tiers the pipeline actually enforces, least-privilege credentials per agent, tool-permission gates, a decision audit log, and autonomy classes where the dangerous class has no code path rather than a warning label. Nothing runs without a registered owner, tier, tool grant and human gate.
Design how the system contacts people. A hard interruption budget per person, message bundling instead of a stream of pings, and a structure that gives something useful before it asks for anything. Adoption depends on this more than on any other single design choice.
Own the platform tooling. The compiler and validator, inventory integrity, and the paths that distribute context and capabilities into the repositories and chat surfaces where work happens.
Compute the operating measures from production data. A pipeline from raw system activity through to a computed maturity grade per team, defensible enough that a team can dispute the result and be answered with the query rather than an opinion.
Instrument the platform's own return. A ledger that logs the work each agent absorbs and computes the monthly figure, so the value of the system is a measurement rather than a claim.
How You'll Think
Recursive Thinking
You build the generator, not the artifact. When you need thirty agents, you do not write thirty agents; you build the inventory, the compiler and the distribution path that makes the thirty-first cost an afternoon, then a meta layer whose job is to watch the platform, find its drift and file the fix.
The evaluation layer is the same move applied to trust. You are not checking whether one agent is correct today. You are building the machine that decides whether every future agent is allowed to ship, which means the suite has to be right in a way the agent does not, and the thing that grades has to be graded too.
Inversion Thinking
You start from the failure and work backward to the design. The rule is that an agent may never autonomously write a commitment into a shared work system. The weak implementation is an instruction in a prompt. The strong one is that the credential in the agent's tool grant physically cannot set an owner, a due date or a status, so no amount of clever input, prompt injection or model error produces the forbidden write. You reach for the second one first.
Same for evaluation. Before writing a suite you enumerate how the agent can be wrong: an update that invents progress that did not happen, one that quotes a private channel into a public digest, one that is accurate and reads as an accusation, one that credits the wrong person. Then the suite is that list, each case caught before the agent ships rather than after it embarrasses someone.
AI-Native Execution
You use agentic tools on real work, in files and repositories, with the same rigor you apply to anything else you ship. You have a setup of your own and can describe it mechanically: what triggers it, what it is allowed to touch, where the human approves, what it logs, and how you found out the one time it went wrong.
That experience is this job, generalized. You are building for async engineers across 40+ countries who will judge the platform by whether it saves them an hour or costs them one, so you are your own first user and your own harshest reviewer.
You Might Be a Good Fit If You
Must Have
Have shipped production LLM agent systems that other people depended on. Not demos, not internal showcases. Systems with operational history, real users and at least one incident you can talk through. Prompt engineering on its own does not clear this bar.
Design evaluations, not spot checks. You build golden sets, write behavioral assertions, define judge rubrics, set pass thresholds and gate CI on the result. You can explain why "we reviewed a bunch of outputs and they looked good" is not evaluation.
Have done deep API work against the systems work actually lives in, and have authored MCP servers. You know the specific failure modes of those APIs, not just that they exist.
Own infrastructure end to end in Python on GCP, with a cloud warehouse and infrastructure as code. You provision, deploy, monitor and roll back your own systems, and you close architecture decisions rather than routing them onward.
Have taste about how software contacts humans. You treat every notification as spending a limited amount of trust.
Strong Signal
Public work in this space. An open-source agent framework, an MCP server, an evaluation harness, or writing on agent reliability that other practitioners cite.
LLM observability and cost instrumentation. Tracing agent runs, attributing spend per run, and building the queries that turn raw logs into a report someone acts on.
You have built an internal platform that non-engineers adopted voluntarily, and can describe what you changed after watching them use it.
What Success Looks Like
The platform is boring. Agents run on a schedule and on events, state survives restarts, failed runs roll back cleanly, and every run can be reconstructed from its log.
Nothing ships unevaluated. Every registered agent has a real suite with safety cases, the gate blocks regressions, and when someone challenges an output the answer is a test case rather than an argument.
The dangerous action is impossible, not discouraged. An audit of any agent's credentials shows it cannot perform the writes it is not allowed to perform, and the audit log makes every consequential decision traceable.
Teams pull the platform instead of being pushed. Agents get adopted because the reports are useful and the contact is rare and well-timed, and each team ends up with at least one workflow that runs automatically.
The platform reports its own value. The work absorbed is measured and published, so the case for expanding it is made with data rather than enthusiasm.

What You Bring
Required
- Customer-facing and commercial ability. You can run a technical discovery session, hold a value conversation with both technical and business stakeholders, and connect what you build to the customer's outcome and the deal's value case. The ultimate value of this role is connecting technology to real business outcomes.
- Abstraction and reuse. You can generalize what you built for one customer into a reusable accelerator the team applies on the next engagement.
- AI and agentic engineering. LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, and agent orchestration, including the judgment for when to use single versus multi-agent patterns and how to handle memory and state. Modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code as daily practice, not novelty.
- Familiar with enterprise integrations in a regulated utility market. You’re familiar with key customer systems such as ESRI ArcGIS/Smallworld, IBM Maximo/EAM, SAP/Oracle ERP/PPM, and PowerBI/reporting systems. You have a technical and functional understanding of REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and integrating with enterprise systems of record.

What You'll Do
Production Engineers at Ramp are full software engineers who happen to specialize in infrastructure. You write production code, you own systems end-to-end, and you drive technical outcomes across the organization — not just within your team.
Day to day, you will:
Build and operate critical infrastructure across Ramp's compute, storage, messaging, and observability stack — owning the systems that handle real financial transactions at scale.
Drive architectural change — not just flag problems. When you surface a reliability or scalability issue, you own the path forward: you propose the solution, find the owners across engineering, and stay in until it's resolved.
Partner with product teams at the design phase — reviewing architectures, embedding golden paths, and making it easy to build correctly the first time.
Build Ramp's next level of scale — you'll be a hands-on contributor to the most consequential infrastructure shift happening right now: our move to a cellular architecture, enabling Ramp to scale, reach international markets, operate in highly regulated and constrained environments (e.g. FedRAMP), and deliver on enterprise-grade SLAs.
Enable AI-native engineering — as Ramp builds increasingly AI-powered products, PE is the team that makes sure the platform can support them. You'll proactively partner with product teams on AI infrastructure patterns, define the golden paths that turn one-off solutions into reusable foundations, and stay ahead of emerging challenges before they become blockers.
Build developer tooling and self-service infrastructure — so that other teams can answer their own questions (cost, performance, reliability) without involving PE.
Participate in on-call rotation — and more importantly, use every incident as a signal to eliminate the root cause, not just resolve the symptom.
Lead across the company — PE doesn't just review designs or show up when called. We proactively initiate cross-team architectural reviews, and we take full ownership of company-wide reliability and scalability initiatives: identifying the problem, proposing the solution, aligning the stakeholders, and staying in until it's done.

An overview of this role
As a Senior Backend Engineer in GitLab’s Platform Enablement organization, you will help make GitLab easier to deploy, validate, and operate across environments. This team is centered on two major areas: Cloud Native deployment guidance and ephemeral environments.
You’ll help shape GitLab’s next generation of self-managed deployment guidance as Reference Architectures evolve toward a model based on deployment patterns, workload characterization, component requirements, topology guidance, and scaling principles.
You’ll also help improve production-like ephemeral environments so teams can validate changes earlier, test against infrastructure and deployment conditions that more closely reflect real-world operation, and reduce drift between development, CI, and production. This includes shaping the tooling, workflows, and platform contracts that make these environments more consistent, more repeatable, and more useful to engineers building and shipping across GitLab’s different deployment models.
Current projects
Deployment Environments is currently focused on:
- Evolving GitLab’s self-managed deployment guidance beyond legacy Reference Architectures into a clear Cloud Native model.
- Improving production-like ephemeral environments for earlier, higher-confidence validation.
- Supporting a platform model where services declare requirements, operators satisfy them, and shared artifacts work across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed.
What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll:
- Build tooling and workflows for cloud-native and self-managed deployment environments.
- Contribute to Cloud Native deployment guidance, including component requirements, architecture patterns, topology guidance, and scaling principles.
- Improve ephemeral environments that bring validation closer to production reality.
- Work across application, infrastructure, and platform boundaries to keep deployment artifacts and environment contracts consistent from development through production.
- Partner with related teams on packaging, testing, delivery workflows, and customer-facing deployment guidance.
What you’ll bring
- Strong backend engineering experience, ideally with Kubernetes-based systems, distributed applications, or platform engineering
- Experience with deployment architecture, environment management, or cloud-native operations
- Comfort working at the boundary of developer workflows and production infrastructure
- Good systems thinking around service dependencies, deployment patterns, and infrastructure abstraction.
- A collaborative, pragmatic approach to building durable platform capabilities

Its work spans Cloud Native deployment guidance, ephemeral environments, and the platform contracts that reduce drift across the software lifecycle.
